Our client in Chislehurst contacted Heat Cover as they were struggling with an outdated, noisy gravity-fed system. The old copper cylinder in the airing cupboard was taking up valuable space, and the header tank in the loft was causing issues with debris and inconsistent water pressure throughout the property. The family needed a modern solution that could provide instant hot water on demand without the reliance on a slow-filling tank system. The existing pipework was significantly undersized for modern central heating demands, leading to cold spots in several radiators. Furthermore, the old boiler had reached the end of its operational lifespan, suffering from frequent burner lockouts and a leaking heat exchanger, which made it inefficient and unreliable for the winter months. They required a professional first-time combi boiler installation to modernise their home infrastructure.

We began by carefully decommissioning the old gravity-fed system, which included removing the redundant loft header tanks and the floor-standing copper cylinder. To ensure the new Worcester Bosch Greenstar 8000 Life combi boiler could operate at peak efficiency, our engineers performed a comprehensive power flush of the entire heating circuit to remove sludge and magnetite deposits. We then installed the new high-efficiency boiler, ensuring all gas supply pipework was upgraded to 22mm to meet current Gas Safe regulations. We fitted a MagnaClean magnetic filter to provide ongoing protection against debris and installed a smart digital thermostat for precise temperature control. After the physical installation, we performed a full tightness test on the gas line, checked the flue integrity using a combustion analyser, and commissioned the system to ensure the flow rates and radiator balance were perfect for the property's specific layout.
