Ideal Boiler Repair in Welling – Boiler Not Firing

We received an urgent call from a customer in Welling who reported that their Ideal Logic boiler had completely stopped firing. Upon arriving at the property, the homeowner explained that the boiler display was showing a blank screen, despite the electrical supply to the fused spur being active. The house had been left without any central heating or hot water, which was particularly concerning given the drop in external temperatures that week. Our engineer performed an initial assessment by checking the 3-amp fuse and confirming that 230V power was reaching the appliance connection point. However, the boiler remained unresponsive to any demand from the thermostat. Further investigation revealed that there was no voltage output from the main internal power connections, suggesting a severe electrical failure within the boiler’s control system rather than a standard ignition issue or low system pressure problem.

After confirming the power supply was sound, our engineer removed the boiler casing to inspect the main Printed Circuit Board (PCB). Using a multimeter, they confirmed that the board was failing to distribute power to the ignition sequence and the pump circuit. It was clear that the PCB had suffered a hardware failure, preventing the unit from initiating its startup cycle. Our engineer safely isolated the gas and electrical supplies, removed the faulty board, and installed the new unit. Once secured, they performed a full electrical safety test and a combustion analysis to ensure the gas valve and burner were operating within the manufacturer’s specified parameters. The system was then pressurized, vented, and successfully cycled to ensure consistent operation before we left the premises.
